I’m glad to be here and writing for you. To start I’ll tell you a little bit about who I am and what I’m doing here.
I am a teen writer who loves Jesus. I’ve been writing for a few years and I’m finally ready for a platform. By being here, you are supporting me and my dream of being an author.
When I was a little girl, I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up, I gave the usual answers, a vet, a nurse, a teacher, those sorts of things. But I always wanted to be a wife and mom and I loved stories. I learned very quickly that being a vet or nurse was not in the cards, I hate injuries. And as for being a teacher, I’m not the biggest fan of the school system. Then when I was about 11 I sat down and started a book. It was poorly written, but I loved it. I worked on that story for a few years before I stopped and started a new project, a project I wanted to see to the end. And I did, a little over a year later and now I am only days away from indie publishing my debut novella.
Much of my writing success is thanks to a wonderful program called The Young Writer’s Workshop, Ydubs for short. I’ve learned so much and I really wouldn’t be here today without them (really, I wouldn’t be here, my friends pointed me here and I’m so very grateful) I’ve built some incredible friendships with people and so many writing habits that have paid off.
And now today as I write this, I know that I have a lot to learn, but as a teen with big dreams I have a lot to offer the world. I only have to try. As one of my instructors Brett Harris once said, “It will take longer than you think, but it will be so much better than you could have imagined.” (or at least it was something like that.) My prayer is that the words I write might reach someone and that Jesus Christ the King is clearly shown.
And that’s who I am and what my mission is. Thank you for reading and I hope to see you next time.
In Christ
Allison Bates.
